Motivation Monday ... Old houses

Every Monday, I'll post a writing prompt or exercise to get fingers typing, pencils scribbling and creative juices flowing. If you'd like to participate, leave a link to your blog post in the comments.

This week, imagine stumbling across this photo in a box of old family mementos in the attic. You've never seen the house before, nor heard mention of it, but something earned its place in a box of your family's most prized possessions. Where is it? Why haven't you seen it until now? What went on there? How does it make you feel?

Use this exercise to write a poem, flash fiction, short story or fictional diary entry. I'll post mine next Monday before I set the next writing prompt. Enjoy!

I love the picture, which is right up my alley for flash fiction. I'd like to play along. My next flash fiction post won't be until June 1st, but I'll pick either this one or what you post tomorrow. I'm excited and thanks for the follow!

The photo is great. I see many faces and images. Half of an owl's face is to the left of the window in the middle arch, upstairs. A creature's side profile lurks out the front doors. And, there is an image of a person standing to the left of the front steps, as if he or she is walking toward them. Call me crazy, but that's what I see.

What does it prompt? A whole heckuva lot. I'll be checking back by, as I'd love to write some short fiction. I could use the mental exercise. www.cfitewrite.blogspot.com.

Great idea, btw. :))

I LOVE LOVE LOVE old houses. They really do spark the imagination, and in person, they have so much personality. It is too bad they are so much work to maintain and I lack skills, but I sure can write a story about them!

And I am your follower 42, which I believe makes me the meaning of life. *shifty*

It makes me slightly sad that I seemed to have missed this awesome prompt, but it makes me totally sad to see that this doesn't seem to be continuing.

Looks like not many people posted stories. Hm. Well, I'll be a trend breaker.
